Lampre has been active in cycling since 1991. First as a co-sponsor of the Colnago-Lampre formation, which was a continuation of the Diana-Colnago cycling team that was founded in 1980 as Malvor Sidi. Giuseppe Saronni, who was general manager of the Lampre team until 2016, ended his cycling career at Diana-Colnago and was put in charge. The following year the main sponsorship was taken and the team continued as Lampre-Colnago. In 1993, Polti became the co-sponsor. Polti itself became the main sponsor of another cycling team in 1994, which was a continuation of the Gatorade team. A new co-sponsor was found in Panaria. After the 1995 season, Lampre retired from cycling and the team continued for another year under the name Panaria-Vinavil. Most of the team (riders and staff) ended up at Mapei. (Panaria again assumed the title sponsorship of the Navigare-Gaerne formation in 2000 which continued as Panaria-Fiordo.)
