Saxo Bank is known as a team that is very all-round; the team has a topper or a sub-topper in every area. In 2003, Tyler Hamilton won the first "Monument" for the team, Liège-Bastogne-Liège. In 2006, after many podium places, the first Grand Tour was won; Ivan Basso became overall winner of the Tour of Italy. Fabian Cancellara won Paris-Roubaix earlier that year. In 2008, the Swiss added a victory in Milan-San Remo, and in 2010 he took the double Ronde van Vlaanderen-Paris-Roubaix. Luxembourger Andy Schleck was also the best in Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2009.

In mid-March 2008, the American IT company CSC announced that it would stop sponsoring the team at the end of that cycling season in order to focus on other sponsorship activities. The Danish company Saxo Bank became the main sponsor of the team from 2009 and from the 2008 Tour de France showed off as a co-sponsor on Team CSC's jerseys. After 2010, Team Saxo Bank will have a title sponsor: Sungard. It became the Team Saxo Bank-Sungard. At the end of 2011 it was announced that from season 2012 Saxo Bank would again be the sole sponsor of the team. However, since June 25, 2012, the Russian online bank Tinkoff has been a co-sponsor of the team.
