Wigan Warriors are an English professional Rugby League club based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. The club competes in the Betfred Super League, the highest level of the British rugby league system. Founded in 1872, the club is a founding member of the Northern Rugby Football Union and is the most successful club in the history of the World Rugby League with a total of 162 trophies. (8 of these were won before the formation of the Northern Rugby Football Union).
The club has played its home games at the Brick Community Stadium since 1999. Before then, Central Park was the club's home ground, and had been since 1902. The club first wore and adopted the cherry and white colors it is now synonymous with in 1885. colors on a permanent basis at the end of 1888.
The club has won 23 league titles (17 First Division and 6 Super League), 21 Challenge Cups and 5 World Club Challenges. Wigan's most successful period was in the 1980s and 1990s, when the club won seven consecutive league titles, eight Challenge Cup finals in a row (1988–1995) and won the World Club Challenge three times, including the club's victory against Brisbane Broncos in Queensland.
