The Irish rugby union team is a rugby union team that represents both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in international competitions.

Ireland is one of the best rugby nations in the world. They have competed in every Rugby World Cup to date, reaching the quarter-finals five times. They also play in the Six Nations Tournament every year. They have won it 25 times, four of which were grand slams, in 1948, 2009, 2018 and 2023.

Historically, Ireland is considered the worst rugby nation of the home nations (the four countries on the British Isles), having won only two grand slams and the wooden spoon many times. However, Ireland has adapted very well to the professionalisation of the sport, which has led to them winning more and more in recent years. For example, Ireland has won the title four times since 2000, won the Triple Crown five times and finished second on goal difference twice.
