Pete Sampras is an American tennis player who is considered one of the best men's tennis players in history. He achieved this status partly through his fourteen Grand Slam victories. Sampras was a professional tennis player from 1988 to 2002. His playing style was characterized in particular by an effective service-volley game, a powerful but accurate serve and a powerful offensive 'running' forehand.
