The Saeco cycling team is a former professional cycling team based in San Marino and then Italy. Appeared under this name in 1996 as an extension of a San Marino structure established in 1989, and disappeared in 2005, merging with the Lampre team.
It included in its ranks the Italians Ivan Gotti, Mario Cipollini, Eros Poli, Danilo Di Luca, Mirko Celestino, Damiano Cunego and the Swiss Laurent Dufaux.
The structure of the "Juvenes San Marino" was created in 1989. Three main sponsors succeeded each other until 1995: Verynet (1989), GIS (1990-1991) and Mercatone Uno (1992-1995 - this sponsor appeared from 1997 to 2003 with another team).
In 1996, the team changed its name with the withdrawal of the Mercatone Uno company and took over that of the Saeco company, manufacturer of coffee machines.
The management is also changing: Franco Gini gives up his place at the head of the team to Antonio Salutini, sports director since 1991.
In 1998, Saeco became an Italian team.
